AmCham Morning Seminar on EU GDPR

October 5, 2017 | ‒

On Thursday morning, October 5, AmCham members gathered at the Microsoft topic to discuss the intriguing topic of GDPR – General Data Protection Regulations. After four years of preparation and debate, the new GDPR was finally approved by the EU Parliament and will be enforced on May 25, so AmCham  IPR Committee invited the leading experts of this field to share their expertise.

The panel was represented by  Gustav Poola (Nortal), Mari-Liis Orav (PwC Legal Baltics), Minna Frande (Microsoft), Kristjan Aruoja (Coca-Cola Hellenic) and moderated by Nicole Johnson, economic officer of the U.S. Embassy Tallinn. The event started with an informative presentation by Minna Frande (Microsoft Finland) on the GDPR basics and the importance of implementing appropriate technical and organizational measuresto meet the GDPR’s requirements and protect data subject’s rights. Mari-Liis Orav (PwC Legal Baltics) in her turn took a more hands-on approach, elaborating on practical regulations, guidelines and deadlines, turning special attention to sanctions, them being not only so-mush-talked-about fines, but also possible suspension of data processing.

The event concluded with a lively panel where panelists did their absolute best to try to answer the trickiest questions. We would like to thank all the participants for joining  this morning seminar! Also, we would like to thank Microsoft for being such a wonderful host, we enjoyed the event to the most!
